Safeguard Teeth with Dental Sealants

Sealants are commonly applied to children's permanent teeth to prevent tooth decay once they have erupted. While sealing permanent teeth is more common than baby teeth, the decision to use sealants can vary for each child, so a dentist will recommend them based on individual needs.

Sealants usually last between three to five years, but it is possible for adults to still have sealants from childhood. Since sealants only protect teeth when they are intact, it is crucial to inform the dentist and schedule an appointment if a sealant comes off so that your child's teeth can be re-sealed.
